Credentials
Dr. Gelb grew up in northeastern Ohio, the son of a Detroit-raised father and Cleveland mother. He completed his bachelor's degree in Biology at the University of Michigan, and then pursued his medical education at The Ohio State University.
While at Michigan, he spent a semester at the historic biological field station on Douglas Lake and realized his love for Northern Michigan. He attended both medical school and residency in Columbus where he was chief resident of his class in Emergency Medicine.
After those years in Ohio, he returned to Northern Michigan and spent the following 14 years as an Emergency Physician during which time he became board certified and grew a strong connection for the Petoskey community. During this time, he also served as the hospital colleague health director, as chairman and a member of the quality committee, on the medical executive committee, and as the emergency department medical director.
Early in 2016, Dr. Gelb was invited to further his training in Dermatology by his colleague Dr. Murray Cotter and has since committed his practice to the exclusive care of patients for dermatological conditions. With the oversight and support of his board certified dermatologist colleagues, Dr. Gelb is seeing patients in both the Petoskey and Alpena offices.
