Credentials
As the child of medical professionals, Dr. Reem Tadros developed an interest in medicine from her earliest days. Her father is an otolaryngologist and her mother is an internist. It was her mother that first encouraged her to become a dermatologist. When asked why she finally chose the field of dermatology, she explained it was the variety and the visual aspect of the specialty that drew her as she has always enjoyed art and specifically painting.
Dr. Tadros’ compassion has made her develop a special outlook toward her patients. She credits Dr. Wade Smith, one of her oncology attending physicians at her alma mater, the Medical College of Virginia, for instilling his philosophy that ‘a doctor needs more than a stethoscope to listen to his or her patient’s heart.’ “I want to make a difference in people’s lives” she explains whether in improving a teen’s self esteem by clearing his or her acne, or removing a skin cancer or a dangerous mole that may have gone unnoticed.
Her interests take her from modern medicine to ancient language. Although she left Egypt at a young age, she pursued the study of egyptology and hieroglyphics, and was given an opportunity in translating a text from an ancient temple wall. Dr. Tadros is also fluent in french and arabic.
Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with family, reading, cooking and is in the women’s ministry at her church.
